Job Description

Role Summary
This position involves developing and implementing network automation solutions for enterprise-grade SD-WAN deployments. The role requires expertise in automating network configurations, managing infrastructure as code, and integrating REST APIs and CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes. The ideal candidate will bridge network engineering with software automation to support scalable, zero-touch provisioning across remote sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automated workflows for large-scale SD-WAN branch network deployments.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules and configuration templates to manage network infrastructure and enforce policies.
  • Write Python scripts and utilize vendor SDKs and REST APIs to interact with SD-WAN controllers, orchestration platforms, and IPAM systems.
  • Integrate network automation scripts into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins for continuous configuration management.
  • Streamline onboarding processes for new branch hardware and virtual appliances using zero-touch provisioning techniques.
  • Collaborate with Network Architecture, DevOps, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams to translate network designs into automated code.
  • Build telemetry, logging, and monitoring scripts to validate deployment success and flag operational anomalies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automation workflows and network devices to ensure optimal branch network health.
  • Test and validate automation solutions using network verification tools and pre-deployment testing methodologies.
  • Document automation processes, scripts, and workflows for internal reference and team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in network automation, DevOps, or enterprise network engineering roles.
  • Proven expertise managing enterprise SD-WAN solutions (e.g., Cisco Viptela, Palo Alto Prisma, Fortinet, Versa).
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including working with REST APIs, vendor SDKs, and network libraries such as requests, netmiko, or nornir.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API management, JSON/YAML data formats, and authentication mechanisms like OAuth2.
  • Demonstrated experience with Terraform, including writing custom modules and managing infrastructure state for network environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows, especially GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise WAN architectures, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VPNs, NAT, and IPAM.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash and configuration management tools like Ansible.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment with excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation.
  • Relevant industry certifications (preferred): Cisco Certified DevNet Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Terraform Associate.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
