The Role

• Lead the design of mechanical systems, sub-systems, and equipment for advanced submarine programmes.
• Conduct functional design activities, calculations, and analysis, producing comprehensive design documentation.
• Collaborate closely with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve design completion and demonstrate compliance with technical requirements.
• Provide specialist knowledge and expertise to support installation, integration, and commissioning activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and engage with cross-functional project teams.
• Manage major equipment specifications, procurement, qualification, and acceptance activities.

What You'll Need

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in designing mechanical systems and specifying complex, high-value mechanical equipment.
• Excellent communication skills with significant experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle, including requirements, system design, integration, and acceptance.
• Strong awareness of product safety and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) principles.
• Experience operating within key engineering lifecycle phases.
