Job Description

Senior Network Security Engineer

Near Epsom | Hybrid (2 days onsite)

Permanent | On call (1 in 3 weeks) | Alternating early / late shifts (7am - 3:30pm and 9:30am - 6pm)

This is a busy, hands on engineering role within a large, regulated financial services environment, ideal for someone who wants to own and evolve a modern network estate rather than sit in a purely BAU or consultancy position.

A large programme of work is kicking off soon, so you'll be stepping into a high impact role, contributing to real change across network and security infrastructure.

You'll take a lead role across Palo Alto firewalls, core networking and security tooling, helping shape a resilient, scalable and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and optimise the Palo Alto firewall estate
  • Support core networking (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, remote access, load balancing)
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents (SIEM / EDR)
  • Improve network security, segmentation, and resilience
  • Manage vulnerability scanning and patching (Qualys)
  • Lead and contribute to network and security projects
  • Produce clear, accurate technical documentation

Tech Stack

Palo Alto | Cisco (L2/3) | Aruba | SIEM | EDR | Qualys

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in networking (essential)
  • Strong hands-on experience with networking fundamentals and technologies (Cisco, LAN/WAN)
  • Exposure to security tools or environments (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management), but deep cyber expertise is not required
  • Desire to grow into a Network Security SME - this role offers that pathway
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong documentation skills and high attention to detail
  • Someone proactive who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
  • Good understanding of network/security architecture, but this is a hands-on engineering role, not consultancy

Why Join?

  • Clear opportunity to grow into a Security SME
  • Real ownership of network and security engineering
  • Work on a major transformation programme
  • Strong progression and training opportunities
  • Competitive salary, benefits, plus on call/overtime
