Job Description
Variety is seeking a Senior Events Manager to lead the end-to-end production of high-impact events for its thriving Live Media business. The ideal candidate is highly organized, extremely detail-oriented and has a strong eye for design, event concept development, and cohesive audience experiences. The role requires excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and efficient while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This individual will oversee event logistics from conception through execution, collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, and serve as a key point of contact for external partners, vendors, and clients. A passion for the entertainment industry and a commitment to delivering polished, best-in-class events are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of multiple concurrent events, including timelines, vendors, venues, external partners and internal stakeholders
- Create, maintain, and update detailed project plans across overlapping event cycles and varying deadlines and priorities, including contracts, production documents, forms, and spreadsheets, timelines, run-of-show, and program materials
- Manage event budgets, track expenses in real time, and handle invoicing, reconciliations, and vendor payments
- Develop floorplans, and layout plans for furniture, activations, signage, and related event elements, as well as run-of-show doc. and program remarks
- Oversee onsite events including venue management, vendor load-in & strike, floorplans and layouts, program & A/V and overall event flow
- Maintain database of venue and vendor contract information and details
- Support the Event Department with various projects, including supporting team members’ event execution tasks
- Obtain necessary permits, equipment rental orders, production assistance needs, signage order and security needs while overseeing that all equipment and furniture are ordered, delivered, and returned by set deadlines
Required Skills & Qualifications
- At least 4-7 years of experience in event marketing, production, or experiential marketing—preferably within media or publishing
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-touch events simultaneously without sacrificing quality or attention to detail
- Strong budgeting and financial management skills, including expense tracking, invoicing, and reconciliation
- Exceptional organizational and task management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and shifting timelines
- Deep understanding of event logistics, including staging, A/V, venue operations, guest flow, run-of-show docs and production schedules
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, and across multiple platforms and a proactive, responsive working style
- Working knowledge of Outlook, (including shared docs and calendar), Monday, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Ziflow, Swoogo, Splash
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support on-site event execution
- Familiarity with sponsor integrations and branded activations
- On-site production experience, including managing vendors and troubleshooting in real time
