Job Description

Commissioning Engineer - Energy Systems Location: Stone Head Office & Client Sites Across the UK Sector: Energy / Automation & Control Systems About the Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Commissioning Engineer to join my clients growing Energy Business. The role involves testing and commissioning electrical Automation and Control Systems, ranging from minor system modifications to complete new or replacement installations. This position is ideal for an existing Commissioning Engineer or Test Engineer who is keen to develop their site-based commissioning experience. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions, working closely with customers, project teams, and site personnel. You will be based between the Stone Head Office and client sites across the UK, contributing to installation, testing, and commissioning activities while developing your technical and leadership skills within an experienced and supportive team. Key Responsibilities Carry out Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning activities in line with approved documentation

Support and perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

Provide technical supervision of installation works on client sites

Ensure all installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with agreed procedures, methods, and standards

Produce, collate, and manage the project commissioning file

Control and mark up drawings and schematics following commissioning changes

Develop and review commissioning and test documentation

Deploy and verify configuration files to SCADA systems, BCUs, RTUs, PLCs, IEDs, and network devices

Prepare site equipment and materials for commissioning activities

Manage commissioning spares and test equipment

Control Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) in line with safe working procedures and permits

Carry out fault finding, ensuring issues are documented and resolved Essential Skills & Experience: Qualification or proven experience in an Electrical Engineering discipline

Strong understanding of test and commissioning methodologies

Experience fault-finding electrical and electronic systems

Ability to read and interpret drawings (GA, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.)

Understanding of electrical safety and isolation control (LOTO)

Competent with Microsoft Office for technical documentation

Experience deploying and verifying configuration files to electrical devices

Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

BS7671 18th Edition and C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing

Experience working on National Grid substations

Knowledge of Substation Secondary Systems

Experience with SCADA systems
