Job description

Each of us cares about someone who will need medicines. That’s why our vision is to repeatedly beat the odds to deliver breakthrough medicines to patients that need them. We pursue truth and scientific rigour and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Scientist to join our growing Clinical Development team, to drive early-phase development in oncology and endocrinology indications. Reporting to VP of Clinical Development and in collaboration with a Medical Director, you will integrate preclinical findings into clinical strategies and design Phase 1-2 clinical trials, author clinical study protocols and regulatory filings (INDs and CTAs) to advance novel drug candidates into clinic, execute early phase studies, and deliver proof-of-concept.

How you might spend your days

  • Study design and strategy: evaluating preclinical data and scientific concepts to develop clinical study Protocols, Investigator’s Brochures (IBs), Informed Consent Forms (ICFs) for Phase 1–2 dose escalation and expansion studies
  • Regulatory submissions: authoring clinical sections for global IND and CTA submissions, responding to inquiries from health authorities (FDA, EMA, HC), preparing protocol amendments, and contributing to Clinical Study Reports (CSRs)
  • Medical monitoring and patient safety oversight: supporting the Medical Director with medical monitoring and data review activities, evaluating safety, efficacy, PK and PD trends, and preparing and presenting data at Safety Monitoring Committee (SMC) meetings to drive dose decisions
  • Cross-functional leadership & integration: acting as the Clinical Development liaison across the organization, collaborating with:
    • Translational Science: integrating preclinical scientific findings, pharmacokinetic (PK) and biomarker strategies into clinical trial design
    • Biometrics and Data Management: partnering with the study statistician to develop optimal innovative study designs, contributing to data delivery, review, and interpretation to drive conclusions for proof-of-concept
    • Regulatory Affairs: aligning clinical strategies with global regulatory requirements and supporting briefing document development for agency interactions
    • Clinical Operations: ensuring that clinical protocols are scientifically sound and operationally feasible; providing clinical site and investigator support throughout the study cycle
    • Quality Assurance: ensuring that all clinical activities and documentation strictly adhere to GCP/ICH standards and are inspection ready
  • External engagement: Engaging with medical experts and study investigators throughout the study cycle, contributing to advisory boards to refine clinical strategy and discuss study outcomes

We’d love to hear from you if

  • You have an advanced scientific degree (Ph.D., PharmD, M.S. in Life Sciences, or equivalent; MD welcomed)
  • You have 5+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical clinical development, with at least 1 year dedicated to early-phase (Phase 1–2) clinical trials
  • You have a demonstrated background in Oncology or Endocrinology/Metabolic diseases
  • You have knowledge of GCP, ICH guidelines, clinical trial design, medical monitoring, data review, dose-finding strategies, PK and PD assessments
  • You have strong problem-solving skills, able to navigate complex operational and scientific challenges

About AbCellera

Creating medicines is the most important work we can do.

We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing antibody-based medicines in the areas of endocrinology, women’s health, immunology, and oncology. We have built a platform for advancing antibody drug programs from target to clinic, and we are using it to build our internal pipeline.
Today, our pipeline includes two drug candidates in clinical development, two preclinical development candidates (DCs) in Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling activities, and more than 20 active discovery programs across multiple modalities and indications.

We believe that when tenacious people share a vision and work together, they can truly have a positive impact. That’s why we hire for character and intelligence, not just for CVs or experience.

We look for people with drive and energy. People we trust. People who need to know their days are being well spent. That their work really matters. In the end, our success will be measured by the impact of our medicines.
