Job Description

Next Step HR is hiring for an Assistant Technical Engineer on behalf of a leading construction company specializing in high-rise residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This role will support the technical engineering team in preparing and coordinating shop drawings, BIM models, and engineering documentation while ensuring technical accuracy and seamless coordination between architectural, structural, MEP, consultant, and site teams throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and coordination of architectural and structural shop drawings in line with project specifications and consultant requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update architectural and structural BIM models using Autodesk Revit based on IFC, tender, and construction drawings.
  • Coordinate Architectural, Structural, and MEP BIM models to identify clashes and facilitate design coordination.
  • Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings along with blockwork, flooring, false ceiling, wall finish, slab, beam, wall, and column shop drawings.
  • Generate AutoCAD drawings, PDFs, DWFs, and IFC files from BIM models for construction and coordination purposes.
  • Update shop drawings and BIM models based on approved RFIs, CVIs, consultant comments, and design revisions.
  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify discrepancies and coordinate technical resolutions.
  • Prepare technical details, construction sketches, reference drawings, and element coding as required.
  • Coordinate with Quantity Surveying teams regarding quantity take-offs, technical submissions, and drawing revisions.
  • Assist in preparing RFIs, CVIs, and other technical documentation while following up on consultant approvals and clarifications.
  • Provide technical support to site teams by issuing updated drawings, construction details, and engineering clarifications.
  • Manage engineering document submissions through document control platforms such as Asite.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor construction progress, verify drawing implementation, and resolve technical issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs.


Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Technical Engineering, BIM Coordination, or similar role within a main contracting or construction company.
  • Mandatory experience working on high-rise residential, commercial, or mixed-use building projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Architecture/Structure), AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Good understanding of BIM workflows, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), ISO 19650, and Level of Development (LOD) standards.
  • Experience preparing architectural and structural shop drawings.
  • Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, engineering documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and site execution.
  • Ability to interpret and review architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with document management platforms such as Asite is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, technical coordination, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo, Python, or other BIM automation tools will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to conduct regular site visits and provide technical support during project execution.
