The Role
As part of the development team, you will play a key role in the evolution of the VOSKER and SPYPOINT web application, used daily by our customers. In addition to contributing directly to the code across the entire technology stack, you will act as a technical reference for the team: you will support less experienced developers, influence architectural decisions, and help raise quality standards. Your decisions will have a direct and visible impact on the product and on the team’s growth.
Responsibilities
Development
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, tested, and reliable code on both the front end and back end;
- Design and evolve APIs and services;
- Participate in architectural decisions and propose technical solutions tailored to business needs;
- Prepare detailed test plans and write automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end);
- Diagnose and resolve complex performance, security, and reliability issues in production;
- Evaluate new technologies and development tools and make recommendations;
- Write and maintain technical documentation.
Mentoring and Technical Leadership
- Support and mentor junior and intermediate developers through pair programming, knowledge sharing, and support in their development;
- Lead code reviews with a constructive and educational approach;
- Define, document, and promote the team’s coding standards and best practices;
- Contribute to the technical onboarding of new team members;
- Lead or participate in design workshops, estimation sessions, and deployment activities;
- Coordinate the various stages of the development cycle in collaboration with analysts, product owners, designers, and other developers;
- Act as a technical point of contact for non-technical stakeholders and explain technical issues in easy-to-understand terms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or another relevant field of study, or equivalent experience;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in full stack development, including demonstrated experience mentoring or supporting developers;
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React;
- Strong back-end development experience with Node.js and/or Go;
- Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB) and caching systems (Redis);
- Experience in system design: application architecture, APIs, data management, performance, and the BFF (backend-for-frontend) model;
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows;
- Strong understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and best practices (clean code, testing, security);
- Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written. Frequent interactions outside Quebec.
Assets
- Experience with Docker and containerization; knowledge of Kubernetes is an asset;
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and AWS cloud computing;
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban);
- Experience as a technical team lead (tech lead) or in a technical reference role.
Personal Qualities
- Teaching ability and generosity: you enjoy explaining, sharing knowledge, and seeing others grow;
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues;
- Resourcefulness and autonomy: you know how to move forward with minimal supervision and make informed decisions;
- Team spirit, openness to others’ ideas, and the ability to give and receive feedback;
- Rigour, commitment to quality, and a sense of responsibility toward the delivered product and the customer;
- Curiosity and a willingness to continuously learn.
At VOSKER, we value the uniqueness of every individual and celebrate the diversity that helps us redefine what’s possible. We foster collaboration in a healthy, inclusive work environment where all voices are heard.
