Are you a Linux specialist who enjoys building, securing and automating enterprise infrastructure?

We're partnering with a SaaS business looking for an experienced Linux Platform Engineer to join the infrastructure team. You'll play a key role in maintaining and evolving a large-scale Linux estate, supporting business-critical platforms used by thousands of customers across the UK.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work across Linux administration, automation, virtualisation and modern infrastructure technologies to improve reliability, security and performance.

What you'll be doing

  • Administer and support enterprise Linux environments.
  • Manage patching, kernel updates, LVM and filesystem administration.
  • Maintain package repositories and lifecycle management through Foreman.
  • Support VMware ESXi virtual infrastructure, templates, snapshots and BAU operations.
  • Configure and manage host networking including firewalld and iptables.
  • Administer identity services including SSSD, LDAP and Active Directory integration.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible and AWX.
  • Help modernise legacy applications using Podman containers.
  • Support a range of core platform services including Redis, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Memcache, Postfix and HAProxy.
  • Contribute to platform improvements, security initiatives and operational excellence.

What we're looking for

  • Strong commercial Linux administration experience, ideally across RHEL, CentOS or AlmaLinux.
  • Experience with patching, kernel tuning, LVM and filesystem management.
  • VMware ESXi administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Foreman for package and repository management.
  • Experience with Ansible and AWX automation.
  • Strong networking knowledge including firewalld and iptables.
  • Identity management experience using LDAP, Active Directory and SSSD.
  • Exposure to container technologies, ideally Podman.
  • Experience supporting enterprise middleware and infrastructure services.
