Position Overview

We are seeking a Production Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer to provide operational support for the IRS Common API Services (CAS) platform. In this role, you will maintain the availability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical enterprise applications by providing production support, troubleshooting application issues, resolving incidents, and supporting application releases. You will work closely with Government technical teams to ensure production stability while supporting ongoing modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide application-level production support for enterprise middleware and integration services.
• Analyze, develop, test, and support releases for legislative updates, technical enhancements, and application upgrades.
• Implement approved application code fixes, configuration updates, and release packages supporting incidents, defects, and vulnerability remediation.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform incident triage, provide root cause analysis inputs, and resolve application defects.
• Monitor application health, availability, throughput, latency, and error trends using Government-provided monitoring dashboards and logs.
• Support production incidents in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Prepare deployment-ready artifacts, rollback procedures, implementation instructions, and developer validation evidence for Government-led release activities.
• Support application upgrades, platform updates, and infrastructure currency initiatives.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Collaborate with Government teams to ensure operational continuity and successful production support

Required Qualifications

• Experience providing application-level production support for enterprise applications.
• Experience with incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Experience supporting ServiceNow incidents and operational support activities.
• Experience reviewing application logs, monitoring dashboards, and system performance metrics.
• Experience supporting release implementation, deployment preparation, and application validation.
• Experience implementing vulnerability remediation and application code fixes.
• Experience preparing operational documentation and runbooks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Experience supporting Java-based enterprise applications.
• Experience supporting IBM webMethods integration services.
• Experience with AppDynamics, ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or similar monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting OpenShift Enterprise Container Platform (ECP).
• Experience supporting enterprise API and middleware environments.
