Middleware Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Messaging Migration Architect / Lead Engineer with 13+ years of experience in enterprise messaging platforms, application modernization, and migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will lead large-scale messaging transformation projects involving Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ/MSMQ, and application migration across complex enterprise environments.

This is a critical leadership position requiring strong technical expertise, stakeholder management, architecture skills, and the ability to drive migration programs from planning through production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise messaging migration and modernization initiatives.
• Design and implement messaging solutions using Kafka, Solace, and IBM MQ/MSMQ.
• Define migration strategies, architecture roadmaps, and implementation plans.
• Partner with application teams to assess and migrate legacy messaging platforms.
• Drive end-to-end SDLC activities including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, infrastructure teams, and vendors.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies for migration projects.
• Ensure scalability, performance, security, and reliability of messaging solutions.

Required Skills

Must Have

• 15+ years of IT experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Messaging Architecture or Lead Engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Apache Kafka
  • Solace PubSub+
  • IBM MQ / MSMQ
• Proven experience in large-scale Application Migration or Messaging Migration projects.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience designing high-volume, distributed messaging architectures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong leadership and team mentoring experience.
