Job Title: Data Warehouse Architect
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)
Client: Virginia Department of Health (VDH)
Job Summary
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Architect to support its Data Management Team in building and maintaining a clinical data platform. This role will focus on designing and implementing scalable data architectures that enable the ingestion, cleansing, integration, and processing of clinical data from multiple healthcare systems into a unified longitudinal data model.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare data architecture, data integration, and enterprise data warehousing, along with experience working with Oracle Health (Cerner) and modern cloud-based analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Design conceptual and logical data models to support enterprise clinical data domains.
• Develop scalable data architectures for integrating clinical data from multiple disparate source systems.
• Identify and map common data elements across various healthcare applications and databases.
• Design and implement longitudinal data models that consolidate patient and clinical information regardless of source.
• Coordinate data extraction and integration efforts with source system owners.
• Develop and implement data cleansing, transformation, and processing routines to improve data quality.
• Support ETL/ELT development and data ingestion processes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to ensure data integrity and consistency.
• Optimize data processing workflows and support ongoing enhancements to the enterprise data warehouse.
• Document data models, architecture, data flows, and technical specifications.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in Data Architecture.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Processing, ETL, and data integration.
• 3+ years of experience with Oracle Health (formerly Cerner).
• Strong experience designing enterprise data warehouses and data models.
• Experience integrating data from multiple healthcare or clinical systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience with Google BigQuery.
• 5+ years of experience using Python for data processing, automation, or ETL development.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and Google Cloud Infrastructure.
Experience supporting healthcare, public health, or clinical data environments.
