The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced consultant with a strong track record delivering Microsoft Project Server solutions within a client-facing consultancy, Microsoft Partner, Professional Services or specialist software delivery environment.
You will be comfortable working directly with enterprise customers, leading workshops, gathering requirements and taking ownership of projects from solution design through to deployment. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll regularly engage with Project Sponsors, PMOs, Project Managers and customer IT teams.
Whilst consultancy experience is highly desirable, candidates from end-user environments who have extensive Microsoft Project Server implementation and upgrade experience will also be considered.
This role would suit someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with customer engagement and is confident working independently while managing their own deliverables and project outcomes.
The Job:
This is a specialist consulting role focused on delivering Microsoft Project Server and associated reporting and workflow solutions for enterprise customers across the UK.
Over the next 18 months, you'll play a leading role in several large-scale Microsoft Project Server upgrade programmes, initially supporting a major defence-sector client. A significant proportion of your time will be focused on updating workflows, reporting capabilities and platform functionality as customers modernise and enhance their Project Server environments.
You'll be responsible for understanding customer requirements, designing solutions, building and configuring functionality, testing deliverables and supporting successful deployments. The role requires a consultant who can work closely with customers throughout the full project life cycle whilst taking ownership of their individual workstreams and deliverables.
Alongside project delivery, you will provide ongoing support and consultancy to existing customers, helping them maximise the value of their Microsoft PPM platforms and associated reporting solutions.
Client travel is generally light, with most customers located along the South Coast and M4 corridor. Typically, consultants spend no more than one day per month onsite, although occasional overnight stays may be required several times per year depending on project requirements and location.
Key Requirements:
- Strong experience delivering Microsoft Project Server (on-premises) solutions.
- Proven consultancy or client-facing project delivery experience.
- Extensive knowledge of SharePoint Project Server environments.
- Strong experience with SharePoint Workflow and Nintex Workflow.
- Experience developing and maintaining SSRS reporting solutions.
- Ability to lead customer workshops and gather business requirements.
- Experience designing, building, testing and deploying end-to-end solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working directly with customers.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of project deliverables.
- Excellent communication and consulting skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Power BI.
- Power Platform.
- Microsoft PPM solutions.
- Reporting and dashboard development.
- Experience within a Microsoft Partner, consultancy or Professional Services environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale Project Server upgrade programmes.
- Understanding of project management and PMO environments.
