Job Description

Role: Digital Project Manager
Location: Tysons, VA - Hybrid 3 days a week in office

Position Summary:

Seeking a highly skilled Digital Project Manager with a proven ability to lead complex,

multi-functional workstream initiatives across Retail Energy and Enterprise technology environments. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, and hands-on experience delivering technology, process, and operational transformation projects that span business functions, technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead full project lifecycle activities from initiation through implementation and post-deployment analysis.

Define project scope, goals, success metrics, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables in alignment with business sponsors and stakeholders.

Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, resources plans, RAID logs, and communication materials.

Manage project execution using Microsoft Project Online and/or associated governance tools.

Coordinate work across multiple business functions, IT teams, vendors, and third-party service providers.

 

Governance, Risk & Communication

Prepare and deliver project status updates to stakeholders, executive sponsors, and Steering Committees.

Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, dependencies, and critical-path activities.

Maintain clear and consistent communication across business units, technical teams, vendors and leadership.

Ensure adherence to compliance, audit, security, and corporate governance requirements.

 

Financial & Vendor Management

Oversee project budgeting, forecasting, invoice tracking, financial reconciliation, and reporting.

Manage vendor contracts, deliverables, performance, and third-party service dependencies.

Support contract reviews, procurement activities, SOW development, and change control processes.

Quality, Testing & Delivery Assurance

Assist with guiding testing strategy, defect resolution, readiness reviews, and deployment planning, and knowledge transfer activities.

Conduct post-implementation reviews and develop lessons-learned and continuous-improvement recommendations.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong, positive relationships with cross-functional partners across business operations, customer-facing teams, finance, legal compliance, IT, and external vendors to include Billing, Customer Care, EDI Operations, Sales, Pricing, Supply & Scheduling, and IT.

Facilitate alignment, decision-making and accountability across diverse stakeholder groups.

Translate complex business and technical topics into clear messaging for executive, functional, and delivery

audiences.

 

Desired Experience: Retail Energy Domain

 

Expertise

Candidates should bring proven project delivery experience in complex business and technology environments.

Experience in retail energy, utilities, or regulated industries is preferred, but not required when the candidate demonstrates the ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives with strong governance, communication, and delivery discipline.

Enterprise Transformation & Systems Delivery

Experience leading technology modernization, business process improvement, system implementation, integration, data migration, or platform replacement initiatives.

Ability to manage projects involving multiple functional groups, competing priorities, complex

dependencies, and executive visibility.

Working knowledge of enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP, billing, data platforms, workflow tools, reporting solutions, or integration platforms.

Energy, Utility, or Regulated Industry Exposure

Familiarity with Energy or utility business operations such as customer operations, billing, pricing, supply, scheduling, contracts, regulatory compliance, or market interactions is a plus.

Ability to quickly learn specialized operational processes, regulatory requirements, and vendor ecosystems.

Experience working in environments with audit, compliance, security, and operational controls.

 

Business Process & Change Management

Experience facilitating process mapping, requirements clarification, gap analysis, decision workshops, and readiness planning.

Ability to support organizational change through stakeholder engagement, communications, adoption planning, and transition support.

Comfortable partnering with business SMEs and technical teams to define practical solutions and

implementation plans.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

At least 5 years of IT or digital project management experience delivering complex, multi-workstream projects.

Proven experience working across matrixed business units, multiple vendors, and third-party service providers.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies, risks, and deadlines.

Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting to executives and facilitating large or diverse groups.

Proficiency with Microsoft Project, OnePlan, Azure DevOps, Jira, SharePoint, and advanced

Excel/PowerPoint/Visio.

 

Preferred

Professional certifications: PMP, PMI-ACP, CMMI, or equivalent.

Experience in retail energy, utilities, regulated industries, or enterprise transformation programs. General

understanding of GAAP O&M and Capital accounting practices.

Experience managing modernization initiatives involving business process redesign, system integration, vendor delivery, and organizational readiness.
