Process: 1 Teams screening with him and team.

Scope: Our client looking for candidates with deep technical expertise in electronics design, specifically experience with high-density PCBs (12-14 layers), BGA components, worst-case analysis, component derating, and DFMEA.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5 10 years of experience in hardware engineering, preferably within the automotive or off-highway electronics industry.
  • Direct off-highway or automotive experience is not strictly required; transferable best practices from other robust industrial control environments (e.g., DFMEA, derating, worst-case analysis) are valued.

Technology/Equipment:

  • Familiarity with Altium or OrCAD/Cadence design tools (CIS Schematic Capture, Allegro / PCB Editor, PSPICE).
  • The role involves designing robust electronics for off-highway vehicles, construction equipment, and some military applications, requiring survival in extreme conditions like -40 C to +85 C and high vibration.- MUST have this.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional development teams to drive products from requirements definition through system architecture, detailed design, integration, validation, and production release.
  • Conduct detailed design reviews and provide critical technical input to ensure compliance with engineering best practices and design robustness across electrical and mechanical domains.
  • Design and develop robust, reliable electronic circuits and assemblies for harsh automotive and off-highway environments, including power distribution, sensor interfaces, and control modules.
  • Perform schematic capture and oversee PCB layout, ensuring DFM, DFT, and signal integrity considerations are met.
  • Strong foundation in embedded systems hardware design with hands-on experience in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, microprocessors/microcontrollers (MPU/MCU), and wired/wireless communication technologies (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, etc.). Does NOT need direct Firmware developers, just a foundation. He has Firmware Engineers handling that.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and evaluating electronic component datasheets for design selection and validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and system-level issues, with a track record of delivering effective and timely solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions using data-driven approaches.
  • Proficient with hardware design tools including schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation.
  • Ability to set up and utilize common test equipment (e.g. power supplies, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Proficient with using revision control software.
  • Investigate and resolve field and production issues by executing structured root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone diagrams, support failure analysis, and resolution of returned material.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to support DFM initiatives and transition new designs to production, optimizing for quality, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
  • looking for candidates with deep technical expertise in electronics design, specifically experience with high-density PCBs (12-14 layers), BGA components, worst-case analysis, component derating, and DFMEA.
