Senior PCIe SSD Validation Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior PCIe SSD Validation Engineer to join a high-performance storage engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PCIe protocol validation, NVMe storage technologies, SSD qualification, and automation development. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on validating next-generation PCIe storage products through protocol testing, automation, and cross-functional debugging.
Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive PCIe validation plans covering link training, resets, hot-plug, surprise removal, power management, recovery, and error handling.
  • Execute PCIe Gen4, Gen5, and Gen6 protocol validation across multiple platforms.
  • Validate SSD functionality under stress, corner cases, and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Design and maintain automated validation frameworks using Python.
  • Integrate PCIe analyzers, exercisers, and validation tools into automated test environments.
  • Analyze failures from regression testing, system bring-up, and customer scenarios.
  • Perform protocol-level debugging using PCIe traces, NVMe logs, and system diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and systems engineering teams to identify root causes and validate fixes.
  • Utilize lab equipment such as protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related debug tools.
  • Improve validation coverage, standardize test APIs, and enhance reusable automation frameworks.
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in SSD, storage, PCIe, or high-speed interface validation.
  • Strong understanding of PCIe protocol fundamentals.
  • Experience validating PCIe Gen4/Gen5/Gen6 devices.
  • Hands-on experience with PCIe analyzers and exercisers (Teledyne, LeCroy, Keysight, or similar).
  • Experience with NVMe protocol validation.
  • Strong Python scripting skills for automation.
  • Experience working in Linux-based validation environments.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Git, and regression automation.
  • Strong hardware, firmware, and system-level debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
