Job Description
To keep ourselves accountable, our initiatives are guided by four areas of focus: Good Planet, Good Community, Good Health, and Good Business. Learn about these focus areas below and discover how we can make a Good Difference together.
Good PlanetALDI is committed to positive environmental outcomes through projects such as sourcing 100% of our electricity from renewable sources, reducing energy usage in stores and distribution centres, decreasing plastic packaging, embracing sustainable alternatives, and aiming for Zero Waste to landfill by 2025.
We work with Australian farmers to source the best produce and ensure fair, respectful treatment of everyone involved with ALDI. Our responsibility is central to our operations.
As a good community member, ALDI strives to make a positive local impact and support those in need through community partnerships.
We promote healthy diets and fresh food through our advertising, supporting our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable products.
In 2022, ALDI increased its waste diversion rate to 82% and continues to implement new programs to reduce waste further.
Our Australian farmers source 100% of our fresh meat, eggs, milk, salmon, and poultry, and 97% of our fresh produce.
All our stores, warehouses, and offices are powered by 100% renewable electricity.
78% of our products now feature the Australasian Recycling Label, and we've replaced plastic packaging with paper for batteries, avoiding approximately 17 tonnes of plastic waste annually.
Since 2020, all paper and pulp-based packaging in our range are FSC, PEFC, or 70% recycled.
ALDI Australia actively works to eliminate modern slavery and exploitation in our supply chains.
Our sustainability efforts have been recognized by awards such as the 'Green Supermarket of the Year' at The Finder Green Awards and awards for sustainable seafood, retailing, and products in 2023.
We are phasing out plastic shopping bags in favor of paper options across all stores.
ALDI has removed nearly 2,000 tonnes of plastic packaging and achieved a 10% reduction in our fresh produce packaging in one year.
We aim to send zero waste to landfill by 2025, with a focus on eliminating food waste by 2023 through expanded waste segregation, increased food donations, and closed-loop recycling initiatives.
