Macroeconomic Modelling Expert

Location: Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh

Experience: 4+ Years

Education: Master's Degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, Public Policy, Development Economics, or equivalent

Role Overview

KPMG India is seeking a highly motivated Macroeconomic Modelling Expert to support IIDA in driving evidence-based economic planning, industrial development, and investment-led growth. The professional will be responsible for conducting regional economic analysis, developing forecasting models, assessing sectoral opportunities, and providing strategic policy recommendations to support development planning and industrial corridor initiatives across Andhra Pradesh.

Key Responsibilities

Economic Analysis & Forecasting

  • Develop macroeconomic, regional economic, and sectoral forecasting models.
  • Analyze economic trends, GDP growth, employment patterns, trade performance, industrial output, and investment flows.
  • Conduct demand-supply assessments and economic impact studies for infrastructure and industrial projects.
  • Prepare economic outlook reports and growth scenarios for policy and planning purposes.

Industrial & Investment Assessments

  • Evaluate high-growth sectors and emerging industries for investment promotion.
  • Conduct competitiveness analysis, value-chain studies, and benchmarking exercises.
  • Assess economic feasibility and regional development opportunities across industrial clusters and corridors.
  • Support investment attraction strategies through economic intelligence and market assessments.

Strategy & Policy Advisory

  • Support preparation of vision documents, regional development plans, and industrial growth strategies.
  • Recommend policy interventions to enhance productivity, investment, exports, and employment generation.
  • Provide economic insights for industrial corridor and infrastructure planning initiatives.
  • Assist government stakeholders in economic decision-making through evidence-based recommendations.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Design economic performance monitoring frameworks and KPIs.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical tools to track economic and industrial performance.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior government officials and project leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with government departments, industry bodies, investors, and development agencies.
  • Facilitate consultations, workshops, and presentations with key stakeholders.
  • Translate complex economic analysis into actionable recommendations.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of macroeconomics, regional economics, and economic development.
  • Experience in econometric modelling, forecasting, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, STATA, R, Python, EViews, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience in economic impact assessment and policy analysis.
  • Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with government stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in industrial development, infrastructure planning, or public sector consulting.
  • Exposure to economic master plans, industrial corridor projects, or regional development initiatives.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, development institutions, or consulting firms.
