Embedded Software Engineer – C++ / FMS

Location: Deer Valley, Phoenix, AZ
Work Model: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week onsite
Experience: 3–8 years
Duration: Minimum 1 year, with a strong possibility of extension

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C++ and Flight Management System (FMS) experience to support flight software development and enhancement initiatives. FMS domain experience is mandatory.

The ideal candidate will have strong embedded C++ programming skills and the ability to understand existing code, analyze change requests, and implement modifications related to HMI and Multifunction Control and Display Unit (MCDU) functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, debug, and maintain embedded C++ flight software.
• Analyze existing code constructs and implement changes based on Change Requests (CRs).
• Work on software related to HMI and Multifunction Control and Display Unit (MCDU) functionality.
• Support Flight Management System (FMS) software development and enhancements.
• Work within flight software development and debugging environments.
• Troubleshoot software issues and support root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand functional requirements and implement software changes.
• Support verification, testing, debugging, and integration activities.
• Follow aerospace software development standards and processes, including DO-178C where applicable.

Required Skills

• 3–8 years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++, particularly embedded C++.
• Mandatory: Flight Management System (FMS) experience.
• Experience with flight software development.
• Experience working in a flight software debugging environment.
• Strong understanding of HMI functionality.
• Experience with MCDU / Multifunction Control and Display Unit is highly desirable.
• Experience working with Change Request (CR) processes.
• DO-178C experience is required/preferred depending on project assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace, avionics, or flight software development experience.
• Experience with FMS-related embedded systems.
• Experience debugging complex embedded software.
• Familiarity with software development and verification processes in safety-critical environments.
• Experience working with HMI/display systems.
