AWS Cloud Security Engineer

Resource 1 is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Security Engineer for a remote contract engagement with our client based in Oak Brook, IL. The initial contract term will be 3 months with potential extensions. We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Security Engineer to support the implementation, integration, and operationalization of security tooling across large-scale AWS infrastructure environments. This role is highly focused on hands-on engineering within Kubernetes and EC2-based cloud platforms, with an emphasis on deploying and configuring enterprise security tooling directly into infrastructure environments.

The ideal candidate will bring a balanced background in both cloud/ infrastructure engineering and security tooling implementation. This is not a purely administrative or security operations role -  we are looking for an Engineer who can work directly within cloud infrastructure to install, configure, integrate, and support security platforms at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, configure, and maintain security tooling across AWS cloud environment
• Deploy and operationalize platforms such as Wiz, CrowdStrike Falcon, and Rapid7 within Kubernetes and EC2 environments
• Install and manage security agents across cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads
• Integrate security tooling into AWS-based infrastructure and CI/CD workflows
• Support and secure large-scale Kubernetes (EKS) clusters and EC2 environments
• Partner closely with cloud engineering, DevOps, and security teams to improve infrastructure security posture
• Assist with infrastructure hardening, vulnerability management, monitoring, and cloud security operations
• Support ongoing cloud security initiatives related to IAM, Secrets Manager, patching, and native AWS security services
• Troubleshoot issues related to cloud security tooling implementations and integrations

Required Qualifications:

• Strong experience supporting large-scale AWS cloud environments
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/ EKS infrastructure
• Experience securing and supporting EC2-based environments
• Hands-on implementation and configuration of Wiz, CrowdStrike Falcon and Rapid7
• Installation and configuration of security tooling and agents
• Experience with native AWS security services such as GuardDuty, AWS Config, AIM, Security Hub, etc.
• Experience with vulnerability management and cloud security best practices
• Familiarity with patching strategies and infrastructure security controls
